Getting started

What is halal certification?

Halal certification is an assessment of products, ingredients, processes and relevant controls against the applicable halal requirements.

Who can apply for HQC certification?

Manufacturers, processors, service providers and other organizations seeking halal certification for an eligible scope may apply.

Why is halal certification important for international markets?

Many authorities, customers and destination markets require recognized evidence that products and processes meet applicable halal requirements.

Application

How do I start an application?

Use the online Application page to provide company details, requested scope, sites and operations, halal-risk information and the applicant declaration.

What information should I prepare?

Prepare company and site information, product and ingredient details, process flows, supplier documents, target markets and existing certifications.

Can I save my application and continue later?

The application flow is designed in clear steps. Keep the information and supporting documents you need available while completing it.

Can an existing customer request a renewal, scope extension or additional site?

Yes. Contact HQC with your certificate details and requested change so the appropriate review route can be confirmed.

Can one application include multiple sites?

Yes, when the sites belong to the requested certification scope. Each location and its activities must be identified for review.

Certification process

What happens after I submit an application?

HQC reviews the application and scope, confirms the applicable requirements and coordinates the next assessment steps with the applicant.

Is an on-site audit or inspection required?

This depends on the certification scope, activities, sites, risk profile and applicable scheme or authority requirements.

How long does the certification process take?

Timing depends on the application scope, documentation, products, processes, site readiness, audit findings and any required follow-up. HQC confirms the applicable process after reviewing the application.

What happens if improvements are required?

HQC identifies the relevant findings and required evidence. Certification can proceed when applicable requirements and follow-up actions are satisfactorily addressed.

Does submitting an application guarantee certification?

No. Certification is issued only after the applicable assessment and certification requirements have been successfully completed.

Standards & markets

Which halal standard applies to my organization?

HQC determines the applicable reference standard during application review based on your sector, products, activities and intended markets.

Can multiple destination-market requirements apply?

Yes. Products intended for several markets may need to satisfy more than one authority or market requirement.

What is the difference between accreditation, recognition and standards?

Accreditation assesses a certification body's competence, recognition concerns acceptance in a market context, and standards define technical and procedural requirements.

How do I confirm recognition for a target market?

Share the product category and intended destination with HQC so the current recognition and certification route can be reviewed.

After certification

What is required after certification?

Certified organizations must continue meeting the applicable requirements and complete any surveillance, renewal or change-review activities required by their certification scope.

What changes should be reported to HQC?

Report significant changes to products, ingredients, suppliers, processes, ownership, sites, outsourced activities or target markets before relying on the existing certificate.

How do I extend the certified scope?

Contact HQC with the proposed products, activities or sites. The extension must be reviewed and approved before it is included in the certified scope.

Complaints

How do I submit a complaint?

Use the Complaints page or contact HQC in writing. Clearly identify the matter and provide enough information for it to be assessed.

What information should a complaint include?

Include your contact details, the organization or service concerned, relevant dates, a clear description and any supporting documents.
